Mestre Marcelo Alonso
Mestre Marcelo is the owner and Head Instructor of Marcelo Alonso Brazilian Jiu Jitsu - Team Carlson Gracie. Mestre Marcelo began his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Brazil under the famed Mestre Carlson Gracie. Mestre Marcelo is a 7th Degree Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt (Coral Belt). The highest ranking BJJ Instructor in the State of Washington. Sensei Jim Harai promoted Mestre Marcelo Alonso to Judo Shodan (1st Degree Judo Black Belt) in 2021.

Sensei Jim Harai Jr
Sensei Jim Harai Jr is a Kodokan Judo Godan (5th Degree Black Belt), United States Judo Federation Rokudan (6th Degree Black Belt) and a Marcelo Alonso Brazilian Jiu Jitsu 1st Degree Black Belt. Sensei Jim is the owner & Head Judo Instructor. Sensei Jim began his Judo journey in Okinawa, Japan under Sensei Tsuro Fukushima & Sensei James Harai Sr in 1969. Sensei Jim obtained his Shodan (1st Degree Judo Black Belt) in 1979. Sensei Jim obtained his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt by Mestre Marcelo Alonso in 2019. Sensei Jim was also previously certified as a Defensive Tactics Instructor from the Washington Criminal Justice Commission (WCJC) for Level 1 & 2 UDT, Baton/Straight Stick/ASP, OC/Pepper Spray. Sensei Jim is also a Certified USJF Self Defense Instructor.

Professor Charlie Johnson
Professor Charlie is Marcelo Alonso Brazilian Jiu Jitsu 2nd Degree Black Belt and a USJF Judo Brown Belt under Sensei Jim Harai. Professor Charlie is the Head Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Instructor @ Harai Dojo. Professor Charlie began his Brazilian Jiu Jitsu journey 14 years ago in Olympia, WA. Professor Charlie is also a Black Belt in Shotokan Karate and has many years of experience in Muay Thai. Professor Charlie is also one of our Muay Thai Coaches.

Professor Nick Laudenglos
Professor Nick is a Marcelo Alonso Brazilian Jiu Jitsu 4th Degree Black Belt and a USJF Judo Blue Belt under Sensei Jim Harai of Harai Dojo. Professor Nick is our most Senior Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt and has been with MABJJ for over 20 years. Professor Nick has a tremendous wealth of knowledge in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and has many hours of teaching, learning and being on the mats. A great asset to have in the the Dojo.

Sensei Chris Rhude
Sensei Chris is a Kodokan Judo Sandan (3rd Degree Black Belt) and a Marcelo Alonso Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt. Sensei Chris has been Harai Dojo’s Assistant Head Judo Instructor since the beginning. Sensei Chris got his start in Judo with NAS Whidbey Island Judo Club almost 25 years ago. Sensei Chris is a Paramedic/Firefighter with Joint Base Lewis McChord Fire Department. A great asset to have in the Dojo and to be part of our Medical Team.

Sensei Annette Lane
Sensei Annette is a USJF Judo Nidan (2nd Degree Black Belt) and a Marcelo Alonso Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Purple Belt. She is our highest ranking lady in the Dojo. Sensei Annette began her journey while Sensei Jim and Sensei Chris were instructors at Oak Tree Dojo with the legendary Sensei, Fred Ogden in 2013. Sensei Annette is the Head Instructor for the Ladies Only Classes. Another great asset to have in the Dojo.

Professor Cesar Flores
Professor Cesar is a Marcelo Alonso Brazilian Jiu Jitsu 1st Degree Black Belt. Professor Cesar came up under Professor Wally Rivera of Pinnacle MMA in Puyallup. Professor Cesar has been with the MABJJ Family for the past 13 years. Professor Wally is a Marcelo Alonso Brazilian Jiu Jitsu 3rd Degree Black Belt. Professor Cesar is also a skilled Muay Thai practitioner and helps out in our Muay Thai Classes.

Sensei Chris is the Co-Owner of Harai Dojo along with Sensei Jim. Sensei Chris is a USJF Judo Shodan (1st Degree Black Belt) and a Marcelo Alonso Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Brown Belt. Sensei Chris began his journey while Sensei Jim and Sensei Chris Rhude were instructors at Oak Tree Dojo with the legendary Sensei, Fred Ogden in 2015. Sensei Chris is a Paramedic/Firefighter with Gray’s Harbor Fire District 5. A great asset to have in the the Dojo and to be part of our Medical Team..

Professor Rob Larson
Professor Rob is a Marcelo Alonso Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt. Coach Rob came up under Professor Ivan Salavery of Ivan Salavery MMA in Seattle. Coach Rob has 14 years experience in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and MMA. Coach Rob joined our program in 2021 and will be a great asset to our Dojo staff !!

Professor Wil Peck
Professor Wil is a Marcelo Alonso Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belt. Professor Wil started his BJJ Journey in Olympia, WA and moved to St. Louis, MO to continue his journey. He recently moved back to his home town and decided to join our Dojo staff !! Great to have some diversity in teaching methods !!

Sensei Melissa is a USJF Judo Shodan (1st Degree Black Belt) and a Marcelo Alonso Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Blue Belt. Sensei Melissa began her journey while Sensei Jim and Sensei Chris Rhude were instructors at Oak Tree Dojo with the legendary Sensei, Fred Ogden in 2016. Sensei Melissa is an Assistant Ladies Only Instructor. Sensei Melissa is an Oncologist @ MAMC and a part of our Medical Team !!

Coach Chris Dunlap
Coach Chris is a Marcelo Alonso Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Brown Belt and a USJF Judo Green Belt. Coach Chris came up under Professor Wally Rivera of Pinnacle MMA in Puyallup. Coach Chris joined Harai Dojo when we first opened up in 2018 and has been with us ever since. Coach Chris has excellent techniques and is a great instructor. Great asset to our Dojo staff !!

Sensei Kevin Ceurter
Sensei Kevin is a USJF Judo Nidan (2nd Degree Judo Black Belt) and a Marcelo Alonso Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Blue Belt. Sensei Kevin came up under Sensei Jerry Dalien of Bushikan Judo Dojo in the 1990’s. Sensei Kevin came to Oak Tree Dojo in 2015 and has been with me since.
Sensei David Lee
Sensei David is a USJF Judo Shodan and a Marcelo Alonso Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Blue Belt. Sensei David came up under my Brothers Sensei John and Sensei Jason Harai of Ippon Judo Dojo in Lakewood, WA. Sensei David has been with us since 2017.
Sensei Michael Holman
Sensei Michael is a USA Judo Shodan and a Marcelo Alonso Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Purple Belt. Sensei Michael came up under Sensei Fred Ogden and Sensei Jim Harai of Oak Tree Dojo in 2014. Sensei Michael is Retired U.S. Army Special Operations Group. Sensei Michael started the Yelm Judo Club @ Yelm High School in March 2024 with Sensei Fred Ogden, Sensei Jim Harai and Sensei Annette Harai assisting him.
Kru Yos “Yod” Suksanguan
Kru Yod is a Muay Thai Kru (Instructor). Kru Yod joined us in early 2023 as we began a Muay Thai Program. Kru Yod has over 20 years of experience as an Kru from Thailand.
